DIDCOT
Didcot is a small town nested in one of the valleys of the glorious Oxfordshire countryside, surrounding by picturesque historic villages and within easy reach of the River Thames, Vale of the White Horse and the beautiful Berkshire Downs. The world famous university city of Oxford is also within easy reach. With lovely parks, woodlands and lakes in which to explore, you really are only minutes from the countryside.
Work has recently been completed on Didcot’s new Orchard Shopping Complex, this includes major chain stores,a cinema and Arts Centre.
Didcot and the surrounding villages also offer a wide choice of restaurants and entertainment opportunities, which cater for all ages.
Didcot, which was originally mentioned in the Doomsday Survey of 1086, is now a thriving town, a pleasant place to live and work with extensive employment opportunities. This is benefited by the main line railway station, Didcot Parkway, which offers direct lines to Oxford, Reading, Swindon and London Paddington. Didcot is a great base from which to commute. Didcot also has great access to the A34, M4 and the M40.
There are many sports and leisure clubs in the town catering for a wide range of indoor and outdoor interests. Children can enjoy well equipped play areas throughout the town.
Didcot has six primary schools and a boy’s secondary, St Birinus Boys, which has achieved College of Technology status; and a girls secondary, Didcot Girls School, which has achieved a language college status.
